Final make up idea

We wanted to keep a white face for the make up as we felt it made the other features stand out more and stereotypically people associate pale people to have kept inside and the clown has been kept in a hospital for years. The black around the eyes because black is associated with negative feelings and the clown is angry and upset for being stuck in the hospital for so long. We didn't use a mask because we wanted the character to be more humanised as then the audience can connect with him as we shall feel sorry for him because he has become this way due to his past life. The red mouth and red nose is stereotypical for a clown which we wanted to keep to because then it still gives the intimidating feel and fear of the clown. Although, normally the nose is bigger and rounder which we kept away from because we want it to look like the character has done this to himself so it looks rough like the life style he has had for the last few years. We wanted the tension to slowly build up because when we first learn about the clown its on a news report but when they meet the clown it all changes. Therefore it was important to make the clown seem as believable as possible.  When we did the make up we unfortunately did not have the wig but when we start filming we shall which will mean that it will be more scary because then it shows how he is trying to hide his identity. In most films when a person tries to hide their identity they change their hair and as many other features as possible which is what we shall try to get across in the trailer.
