mean girls trailer

We are first introduced to the main character of mean girls when the trailer begins. Through the use of sound we learn she has come over from Africa to America, for any teenager to move is difficult let alone at that distance! This will attract an audience of teenagers especially girls who are going through big changes as they feel they can relate to her. Also later on in the trailer we begin to learn that the character Cady struggles with friendship groups, by making this obvious to the audience in the trailer it attracts more of an audience. 

We learn it is a comedy film due to the fact it is joked a black person is her instead, however this also shows us the humour is not suitable for everyone and some may take offense. This attracts but also makes sure that people who will get offended do not continue to watch. 

After 12 seconds we learn the main character is Lindsay Lohan, an actress who has stared in lots of teenage and adult rating films, due to the fact she can be humorous or serious in other films this makes the audience feel they are able to watch the film and know it shall be good.

As Cady is introduced to other students in her school so is the audience, by doing this we feel a connection with the characters but mainly Cady as we learn who they are at the same time so we almost feel new to the school too. By doing this we then want to watch the film to build upon that connection. 

The mid/close up shot of the "plastics" gives the audience the chance to see what they are like due to their attire and the way they are sitting. They know they are popular and are able to rule over people. Which is why when Regina George continuously says "shut up" it becomes obvious to us that she is rude. This is also shown through the close up of Cady who looks confused but also worried.

Throughout the trailer we begin to see that Regina isn't as nice as she was made out to be which causes Cady to want revenge. This makes us want to watch the film because we want to see everything Cady who we first believed was innocent is capable of.

However we do not find out a lot of information from the trailer about when the film shall be shown and where. Although the audience attracts an audience because it shows us what shall happen a lot of people will forget about it without knowing when it is etc.
