How have you improved your conventions of real media texts?
In AS I filmed the production using an iPhone and although we filmed a few versions of it we did not take as much care into making sure we had different camera shots or conventions to a horror film. Whereas for G324 we had a camera and made sure that each shot was filmed numerous times from different angles to guarantee that it would be to a high level. The beginning of our trailer shows this when we use a close up of the water streaming down with a leaf falling, this enabled us to give a soft and innocent feel to set the mood for the beginning. Which we then built up when we showed a two shot of our two main characters. Whereas in AS we began with the character Charlotte walking through the door, this doesn't enable the audience to connect with the character and feels rushed.
In AS although we had sound it could have been used more effectively. My skills have improved since AS because now I have learnt how to add non-diegetic sound to create tension. As a group we only added it in near the end. Whereas in A2 we added it throughout to make an obvious change in parts of the trailer such as the attempt at repair when we show the mid shot of the two characters run into the shelter, they believe they will be safe but the use of music showed the audience that they were leading themselves into trouble.
Another improvement I have made in A2 is the use of cropping on Adobe, we cut between the two characters running to the clown and then back again. There was an attempt of this in AS when we cut between the figure outside the window and then back to the character but it did not flow because we did not use a fade to black between it.
