Wild Child trailer analysis

The film Wild Child was made in 2008, it is stereotypically a girls film with an age range of 10-17, this is because the main character Poppy is a teenage girl who is struggling to come to terms with the fact her father has found someone new after the loss of her mother. The storyline is set for this age group as many young girls struggle with losing a parent or their parents no longer being together and going separate ways. It helps the young girls to see there is ways around the troubles as they sympathise with the main character but can also think about how they might feel during it. It has a lot of humour throughout the film this is in order to attract a wider audience.

The trailer begins by informing us on who the producers are of the film, this attracts an audience due to the fact if they have seen films made by these production companies they will already be more intrigued to know if this film is as good as others they have made but also sets a standard for the audience.
Then through the use of sound, a loud phone rings, this makes us as the audience wonder who's calling and who is on the other end of the phone. The main character who we find out is poppy first says "Ruby you're gonna have to come get me" this begins to introduce the characters to us to begin the connection between audience and characters.

The narrator of the trailer then begins to help us understand the story line. We learn her name is Poppy Moore and before her life was perfect. We then have a medium close up of her and her friends to show how her life was. However the mid shot afterwards of her jumping off the side of the pool suggests to us she didn't have a care in the world. The audience then get to meet her dad through a close up. This creates tension for the audience as we begin to learn she is now in a lot of trouble.

However we then see her life turn upside down when she has to come and live in a boarding school in England. This keeps the audience interested and intrigued to know what her life shall become.

As we continue to watch the trailer we learn that the boarding school helps Poppy to become a better person and a lot happens whilst she is there. The little snippets of this lets our imagination take place and we want to know if we are correct.

At the end of the trailer a title across the screen says "COMING SOON" this keeps the audience excited for the film and will make them want to find out when the film shall come on.
