Taken trailer analysis

Taken is a film that has an audience of 12+ this is due to the fact some scenes could be seen as frightening or unsuitable. This is because a young girl has been abducted whilst she was on holiday with a friend.

From the beginning of the trailer we feel a connection between the two main characters due to the fact the young girl shows a lot of love towards her father. This is shown through camera and sound.  "Oh my darling" is said by the father this shows us his love for his daughter is strong and he is delighted to see her. However due to the fact the film title is "taken" we worry it shall be the girl being taken away from her father.

Unfortunately our suspicions are proven true. This is through sound when she informs her father someone has her best friend and they are coming for her, this causes confusion and worry over why they are there and will she make it out alive!

"They are going to take you" this makes the audiences heart drop, seconds later through the use of a close up from under the bed we see her being taken. By doing this it feels the audiences mind with questions and worry. Due to the fact this film is made for the older audience many will be parents which will make them imagine if it was their daughter or son, this makes them want to watch the film more to know if the dad ever gets her back.
The use of sound is effective as slow music is played which makes the audience feel more upset.

Flashes of scenes that shall be throughout the film of the dad trying to get his daughter back, this is effective because it makes us sympathise with him as we as the audience believe we would do all we could to get a loved one back.

At the end the person who has taken the daughter says "Good luck." and then hangs up the phone this makes the audience angry because he thinks its a game and doesnt care about what he has done.

The trailer then ends with heavy breathing which is effective because it makes us feel sorry for the father and in hope that he does not give up on his daughter. Whilst the heavy breathing is happening the titles come across the screen of the actors and actresses, by having Liam Nelson for the first title due to how famous he is this attracts a wider audience and then finishing with the date of release keeps the audience interested and more likely to watch the film.
